Naruto: Is Fidan really dead? Author says he's still alive, but will die in time
《火影忍者》里的飞段留给观众最深刻的印象，可能就是他的不死能力，即使身体四分五裂也死不了，堪称是《火影忍者》里最特别的能力，但是缺点也容易暴露出来，虽然不会死，但是没有办法靠自己行动，需要有人帮忙缝合好才能动。
在与鹿丸的战斗中，飞段被鹿丸设计，身体也被炸成碎块，虽然还活着，只不过没有办法再移动，连角都都战死了，晓的其它成员也不太可能救这样的失败者，这样的飞段只能活在土堆里。但这样又有一个新的问题，飞段真的死了吗？
在原作中并没有提及飞段死没死透，但从飞段的能力来看，至少在短时间内不会死亡。不过在官方第5部资料设定集《皆之书》里，作者也透露过“飞段还活着。但要是得不到营养的话他就会死。这家伙差不多开始发臭了吧？”按照这种说法，飞段还真是死不了，至少在第四届忍界大战中，飞段还没死。
第四届忍界大战中，角都被兜秽土转生回来，角都跟井野说过“飞段还没有完全死去”的话，按照这种推论，飞段会死，只是时间问题，更何况作者也已经肯定飞段得不到营养就会死的设定，飞段至少还能撑一段时间，不过在战争结束后，飞段应该就死彻底了吧。从另一个角度看，第四届忍界大战中没有看到飞段的身影，也足以印证飞段没有死去，不然兜怎么会放过这么好的素材不用呢。
其实飞段这个角色，如果不是因为能力特殊，我倒觉得在忍界大战中肯定会被兜秽土转生回来，毕竟他的实力和特殊的能力很棘手，对忍者联军来说是个很麻烦的角色，尤其是面对第一次接触的忍者。对观众来说，不管设定中的飞段有没彻底死透，在后续的故事中，飞段都是无关紧要的角色，让他死在他主要登场的篇章里不是更好吗？
